Wallensteinstrasse

The Wallensteinstrasse housing project, located in Berlin-Karlshorst, is a development by the Genossenschaft selbstverwalteter Projekte (GSP eG). The project aims to create 197 apartments, with over half being social housing units, along with a kindergarten and additional community spaces for social, cultural, and economic activities. The project focuses on providing housing to individuals who are disadvantaged in the Berlin housing market. To achieve this, the GSP eG relies on financial solidarity among its members and external supporters. This solidarity allows the project to offer apartments with minimal or no down payment, making them accessible to those with limited financial resources. Key features of the project include 100 WBS (Wohnberechtigungsschein) apartments, with three being wheelchair accessible. The project also plans to create 92 additional kindergarten places and collaborate with external organizations to offer ambulatory care services and housing-first projects in individual apartments.
