LiM Living in Metropolises SCE is a European cooperative focused on developing sustainable, innovative, and affordable housing solutions through collaboration among diverse stakeholders across various countries.
LiM Living in Metropolises SCE is a European cooperative that focuses on developing and promoting quality, climate-friendly, and holistic housing and building culture. The organization operates as a network of private individuals, professionals, architecture and planning offices, companies, and organizations across various European countries, including Germany, Finland, Latvia, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, and Spain. At its core, LiM aims to foster the joint development of future-oriented, innovative, and affordable forms of cooperative coexistence. This includes the participation of local members, diversity, and the sustainable life cycle of buildings. The cooperative sees itself as a growing and "learning" entity, where individual model projects serve as "blueprints" for future development. Currently, LiM is involved in several construction projects, including a residential construction project in the southeastern Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. The organization's approach emphasizes interdisciplinary professional, technical, and organizational exchange to exploit synergy effects and learn from one another. LiM's structure as a Societas Cooperativa Europaea (SCE) allows it to operate across European borders, facilitating the exchange of international know-how and creating competence and security for local actors and housing initiatives. Through its network, LiM promotes the development of innovative and experimental "niche projects" that can be adapted at the local level, making it a significant player in the European cooperative housing landscape.
