Facilitates collaborative solutions for social challenges nationwide.
ProjectTogether is a nonprofit organization based in Berlin that focuses on collective action to address significant social challenges in Germany. Founded in 2015 by Philipp von der Wippel, the organization began as a platform for digital coaching of young founders before evolving into a broader facilitator of collaborations between civil society, business, and government. The organization’s mission is built around uniting diverse stakeholders to devise and implement solutions for pressing societal issues. Over the years, ProjectTogether has supported more than 2,000 social initiatives and impact startups, involving tens of thousands of citizens, eight federal ministries, eleven state governments, and sixty municipalities through ten innovation programs and participation processes. Notable examples include the #WirVsVirus hackathon at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which mobilized 28,000 participants to develop practical tools such as a chatbot for streamlined applications for short-time work benefits. The German government has repeatedly recognized ProjectTogether's efforts, most recently in 2022 for the Alliance4Ukraine initiative. ProjectTogether organizes missions around thematic challenges. For instance, the Farm-Food-Climate Challenge brings together large farms, retailers, and regenerative agriculture startups to address agricultural emissions and promote sustainable practices. Financially, the organization pools resources from foundations, companies, and individuals into common funds, distributing support quickly: for the Alliance4Ukraine initiative, over 2.5 million euros were raised within seven months, supporting more than thirty-five organizations. The group’s activities are anchored in the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly fostering cross-sector partnerships to drive systemic change. ProjectTogether has established itself as a pioneer of collaborative problem-solving in Germany's complex social landscape.
