STARK Group, headquartered in Frederiksberg, Denmark, is among Europe’s largest distributors and retailers of building materials for professional builders. Established in 1896 from the merger of two local timber yards in Aarhus, the company has grown over nearly 130 years into a significant international player in the construction materials sector. Initially listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange in 1918, STARK Group progressively expanded across the Nordic countries and, later, into Germany and the UK. The company now operates more than 1,100 branches and distribution centres in countries including Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Austria, and the UK, and employs approximately 19,000–20,000 people. Recent annual revenue is estimated around EUR 7.8 billion. STARK Group holds several key subsidiaries, such as STARK Danmark, Beijer Byggmaterial in Sweden, STARK Suomi in Finland, and brands in Germany and the UK (such as Jewson). Its Danish operations alone include more than 80 locations, serving both professional contractors and private consumers with a core focus on timely logistics and a wide assortment of building materials. The company’s product offering spans timber, insulation, steel, concrete, tools, and equipment, supported by advisory and logistics services. Recent projects include the opening of a major logistics hub in Gothenburg, Sweden; new strategic branch investments around high-growth Danish cities; and ongoing expansion in the UK following the acquisition of local building material chains. STARK Group has also been recognized for sustainability, receiving a platinum rating from EcoVadis for four consecutive years.
