La Chalmeta is a cooperative housing project located in the Marina del Prat Vermell neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. Completed in 2022, it consists of 32 affordable apartments ranging from 44 to 80 square meters, with a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units. The project was developed by the Llar Jove – Marina del Prat Vermell SCCL cooperative and designed by Pau Vidal Arquitectes and Vivas Arquitectes Barcelona SLP. The building emphasizes community living and sustainability, featuring common spaces and environmentally friendly construction. Residents participated in the planning process, embodying the principles of cohousing. La Chalmeta aims to create a diverse, inclusive, and intergenerational community while promoting cooperative values and integration into the neighborhood.
