The UN17 Village is a housing project located in Ørestad, Copenhagen, designed to meet all 17 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. It is an experimental community that combines modern architecture with the best features of small, local village communities. The project aims to set a benchmark for environmental performance and sustainable living. The village consists of five buildings: Lunden, Kronen, Søen, Spidsen, and Noli, with the first two already completed and the remaining three expected to be finished in 2024. The ground floors of all buildings are dedicated to common areas such as dining halls, community centers, and shared facilities, fostering a natural cohesion among residents. The project includes over 200 sustainability initiatives, including solar cells on the roof and upcycled wood for floors. Residents of UN17 Village share a desire to live more sustainably and in closer community with their neighbors. The village supports community cohesion through weekly communal dinners, spontaneous gatherings, and various activities such as yoga events. With a focus on biodiversity, health, and community, UN17 Village aims to drive a more sustainable movement within the built environment and the life lived within it.
