The Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) is the leading representative network for the architectural profession at the European level. Founded in 1990 in Treviso, Italy, ACE unites the regulatory and professional bodies of architects from all EU Member States, as well as accession countries and nations such as the UK, Switzerland, and Norway. Through its 52 member organisations and observer members, ACE represents the interests of more than half a million architects across 36 countries in Europe. ACE’s core mission is to advocate for high-quality architecture and a sustainable built environment by influencing EU legislation, raising public awareness, and providing authoritative information to both the profession and policymakers. The organisation actively promotes architectural excellence, supports sustainable development, and strives for high standards in architectural education and professional mobility across borders. With a governance structure including a General Assembly, Executive Board, and permanent Secretariat in Brussels, ACE ensures effective decision-making and coordinated action. It frequently engages in partnerships, such as with IFLA Europe for landscape architecture, to strengthen the professional community’s voice and advance shared objectives. ACE is also committed to demonstrating the value of architects in addressing contemporary challenges like climate change and urbanisation, emphasizing the profession’s role in fostering a more competitive, enriching, and sustainable Europe for all its citizens.
