FEANTSA, the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless, is a leading network dedicated exclusively to ending homelessness across Europe. Founded in 1989, it unites more than 130 member organisations from nearly 30 countries, encompassing a wide range of non-profit services that provide direct support, advocacy, and expertise on homelessness. These members are primarily national or regional umbrella organisations, which allows FEANTSA to represent the diverse realities and challenges faced across the continent. The organisation’s strategies focus on policy advocacy, research, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of best practices. FEANTSA engages continuously with European institutions, national governments, and regional authorities to influence social policy and ensure homelessness remains a priority on the European agenda. Through research and data collection, FEANTSA seeks to deepen understanding of homelessness, its causes, and effective solutions, sharing these insights to drive practical change. FEANTSA promotes innovative, evidence-based approaches such as the “Housing First” model, which prioritises rapid access to stable housing combined with tailored support, and has proven effective in countries like Finland. The organisation also plays a key role in monitoring trends, publishing influential reports—often with partners like Fondation Abbé Pierre—and fostering cooperation across sectors. By raising public awareness and facilitating cross-border collaboration, FEANTSA aims to ensure that homelessness is addressed as a matter of human rights and social justice, striving for meaningful, lasting progress throughout Europe.
