Facilitates connections and collaboration in impact investment sector.
GICA Impact Network, based in Berlin, Germany, is an initiative of the non-profit foundation AusserGewöhnlich Berlin. The organisation describes itself as the world’s first global impact meta-network for impact startups, investors, and enablers. It operates independently, without government affiliation or political agenda, and draws on private funding. GICA’s main focus is to foster connections and collaboration in the impact investment sector, with the aim of mobilising capital and expertise toward ventures that address social and environmental challenges. Founded as an extension of Berlin’s established ecosystem for social innovation, GICA acts as a neutral platform where impact-driven entrepreneurs and financiers can share practical knowledge, establish new partnerships, and explore emerging solutions. Its advisory board includes representatives from organisations such as High-Tech Gründerfonds, PHINEO, and AENU, as well as academics and industry practitioners. The network is coordinated by Alexander Sascha Wolf, among others. GICA’s recent activities have included roundtable discussions with policymakers and impact investors, as well as supporting international founders seeking to expand their sustainability-driven ventures in Europe. For example, the platform hosted conversations about political frameworks for sustainable innovation in partnership with the European Academy Berlin. Although GICA does not publicise detailed membership figures or explicit financial data, its scope appears both regional and international, with Berlin serving as a central hub. GICA’s approach is primarily to facilitate dialogue, build community, and convene expertise, rather than directly funding or incubating specific enterprises.
