Social Entrepreneurship Netzwerk Deutschland (SEND) is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 to represent, connect, and support social enterprises across Germany. Based in Berlin, SEND serves as the national voice for German social entrepreneurs, giving them visibility and building bridges to politics, civil society, and businesses. With more than 800 members ranging from early-stage to growth-stage social enterprises, SEND focuses on four key activities: networking social entrepreneurs through regional groups and events; advocating for improved framework conditions and policies; increasing public visibility of social enterprises and their solutions; and building connections with stakeholders from various sectors. SEND defines social entrepreneurship as using business approaches to develop innovative solutions for social and ecological challenges. The organization emphasizes that social entrepreneurs prioritize positive social impact over financial returns, while still maintaining sustainable business models. Notable initiatives by SEND include the German Social Entrepreneurship Monitor (DSEM), which provides comprehensive data on the German social entrepreneurship ecosystem, and Buy Social Deutschland, which promotes partnerships between traditional businesses and social enterprises. Through its work, SEND aims to create a society where everyone benefits from progress and innovation. It provides members with opportunities to connect with like-minded people, generate visibility for their impact, and participate in shaping political and financial frameworks for social entrepreneurship in Germany.
