The International Day of Cooperatives 2025 will be celebrated globally on July 5 under the theme “Cooperatives: Driving Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions for a Better World.” The event is organized by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) in partnership with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC), along with other international bodies.
This year’s observance is especially significant as it aligns with the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives (IYC2025), highlighting the crucial role of cooperatives in addressing challenges like inequality, climate change, and social inclusion. The day aims to raise awareness of how cooperatives—democratic organizations rooted in shared ownership—drive progress across sectors such as agriculture, finance, housing, health, and energy.
Events will take place worldwide, showcasing cooperatives’ contributions to sustainable development, economic democracy, and social justice. The celebration recognizes both the 103rd International Cooperative Day and the 31st UN International Day of Cooperatives, inviting communities everywhere to participate by organizing events, sharing stories, and promoting the cooperative model’s values.
