Dezeen was launched
Dezeen was launched by Marcus Fairs in November 2006. In 2021, Dezeen was acquired by Danish media group JP/Politiken Media Group
In 2021 we celebrate our 15th birthday and mark 15 years of unbroken growth – Dezeen is regularly ranked among the 4,000 most visited websites in the world by Alexa. It is also the most commented design site in the world.
Dezeen also runs Dezeen Jobs – the internet's most vibrant architecture and design jobs board and Dezeen Awards, an annual awards programme that identifies the world's best architecture, interiors and design.
In 2020 we created Dezeen Events Guide, the world's leading guide to architecture and design events around the world. Dezeen Showroom also launched in 2020 as an affordable space for brands to launch products and showcase their designers and projects.
Dezeen is accredited by the Federation of Small Businesses' (FSB) Good Business Charter, which recognises responsible business behaviour.

Dezeen has won over 50 major awards for our agenda-setting journalism and our innovative approach to online publishing.
In 2021 we won the Webby's People's Voice award for the Out of the Box campaign run in collaboration with Samsung. The campaign also took home the Internationalists Marketing Makes a World of Difference award, which acknowledges "purposeful marketing" strategies.
Marcus Fairs won the 2018 BSME Digital Editor of the Year Award
Dezeen has also collected several prizes from the BSME awards, which are considered the most prestigious awards for British editors. Most recently, Dezeen founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs received the titles specialist editor of the year and independent editor of the year.
In 2018, Fairs was named digital editor of the year.
2020 saw Fairs receive the digital leadership prize at the IBP journalism awards, while Virtual Design Festival – the world's first online design festival – was named event of the year. Judges praised the event for demonstrating "ambition, imagination and creative flair with varied and engaging content".
VDF also claimed the digital initiative of the year and the special coronavirus response prize at the Professional Publishers Association's annual awards for independent publishers.
"What really impressed the judges was the sheer volume of quality content on offer and the innovative ways in which people all over the world were brought together," said the Professional Publishers Association.
Dezeen Awards has also been recognised, receiving the 2020 Award Awards prizes for best sector-specific event. Judges described it as having "developed quickly" and having "a highly professional appearance".
