re-MODULEES is a Horizon 2020 project that ran from November 2020 to October 2023, with a budget of approximately €2.1 million. Its primary goal was to create an EU-wide retrofit market activation framework for the residential building sector, focusing on energy efficiency and deep renovation. The project developed a digital retrofitting market activation platform (MAP) that serves as a central component for new or improved renovation services. This platform enables more efficient renovation processes and acts as a key enabler for One-Stop Shops (OSS) for energy-efficient building renovations. re-MODULEES implemented a multi-actor approach by establishing Local Advisory Boards (re-LABs) in pilot markets across Europe, involving 125 stakeholders throughout the project. These boards served as testbeds for co-creating and validating innovative solutions while providing valuable knowledge about local market specificities. The project's modular approach operated on multiple levels, breaking down the overall retrofit process into standardized segments that could be customized according to regional climatic, building, socio-economic, and market conditions. This approach aimed to maximize cost-optimality and impact. By April 2024, re-MODULEES had delivered guidelines for One-Stop Shops tailored to its platform, and as of May 2024, the project was reported as completed after 3.5 years of work to facilitate and accelerate deep renovation of residential buildings across Europe.
