The CRCLR House in Berlin, Germany, is a pioneering project in circular construction and sustainable living. Located in the Neukölln district, it was built on the site of an old Kindl brewery and opened in 2022. The project combines the retrofit of the existing brewery building with new timber and concrete hybrid extensions, providing workspace and housing. The construction process was highly innovative, using recycled and upcycled materials sourced from demolition sites, including windows from a Swiss residential building and fire doors from a hotel refurbishment. Despite challenges in finding suitable materials and complying with building regulations, the project achieved 80% sustainability in its materials. The CRCLR House serves as a hub for circular economy projects and hosts various workshops and events focused on sustainability and social impact. It is a model for environmentally conscious construction and community living.
